Vauxhall Mokka-e

Summary

The Vauxhall Mokka-e is described by Vauxhall as an ‘SUV’ (Sports Utility Vehicle). However in reality it’s a Vauxhall Corsa-e supermini with a slightly raised height and slightly more space (including a 310-litre boot rather than the 309-litre boot of the Corsa-e). So describing the Mokka-e as a ‘crossover’ rather than an SUV is more accurate.

The Mokka-e shares the same platform as the Peugeot e-2008 and the DS 3 Crossback e-tense, but the styling is more simple, in line with Vauxhall’s brand design.

The Mokka-e has an official WLTP driving range of 209 miles, and it’s one of the more affordable electric cars.

Under the skin is a 50kW lithium-ion battery, which sits in the floor, and a 100 kW electric motor. Despite the crossover styling, the Mokka-e is just front-wheel drive. It has a kerb weight of 1,598 kg, which is relatively light for an EV.

There are three drive modes: Eco, Normal and Sport, and you can increase the amount of brake regeneration by selecting ‘B’ rather than ‘D’ on the gear selector.

The Mokka-e supports up to 100kW rapid charging, when a 15% – 80% charge could take just 30 minutes.

Using a domestic 7kW wall box, a 0 – 100% charge should take 7 hours 30 minutes, and the Mokka-e has an on-board 11kW charger to benefit from three-phase workplace charging.
