Renault ZOE

Summary

The Renault ZOE is an all-electric supermini with five doors and five seats. The ZOE was one of the first mass produced EVs, and it has seen a number of changes over the years.

In 2013 the ZOE went on sale in the UK. In 2015 a new, more efficient R90 electric motor was introduced; the car’s range was 149 miles. In 2016 the ZOE with an E.V. 40 battery was launched, with a 186-mile range. In 2018 a more powerful R110 electric motor was introduced. In 2019 the driving range increased to 238 miles.

Today the Renault ZOE is called the Renault ZOE E-Tech Electric and is available in one trim level, GT Line+ with the R135 electric motor and the (52 kWh) E.V. 50 battery.

The Renault ZOE has a heat pump and also a new B-mode driving mode to maximise regenerative braking.

One important thing that potential ZOE buyers need to be aware of is that the ability to rapid charge at 50kW DC is not standard on the Techno, but an option, costing £1200. 50kW DC rapid charging will provide a 0-80% charge in 1 hour 10 minutes. A 7kW home charger will provide a 0-100% charge in 9 hours 25 minutes.
